How verification works
Check a PallasMark proof yourself
Every proof in PallasMark is sealed with a SHA-256 fingerprint. Anyone who has the file can recompute that fingerprint with tools already on their computer and compare it with the one PallasMark published. No account and no PallasMark software is needed.

How a recording is sealed
Every recording is sealed with a SHA-256 fingerprint, a 64-character code calculated from the file's exact bytes. The fingerprint of the original upload is kept with the record, and the playable version, with the company name, order number and time burned into the frame, gets its own fingerprint.
Change even one second of the video and the fingerprint no longer matches. That is what makes any edit obvious.
Use the verification link
Each proof has a public address of the form pallasmark.com/verify/ followed by the 64-character fingerprint. The page confirms that a record with that fingerprint exists and shows the burned-in details and the time.
The "Verify the stored file" button asks PallasMark to read the stored file again and recompute its fingerprint at that moment. If the file had been altered or replaced, the two would not match and the page says so.
Recompute the fingerprint on your own computer
If you have the video file, you do not need PallasMark at all. Run one of these commands on the file and compare the 64-character result with the fingerprint in the verification link. Upper or lower case does not matter.
- macOS
shasum -a 256 packing-video.mp4- Linux
sha256sum packing-video.mp4- Windows (PowerShell)
Get-FileHash packing-video.mp4 -Algorithm SHA256
Reading the result
- Identical fingerprints: the file is exactly the one PallasMark sealed.
- Different fingerprints: this is not the sealed file. It may have been edited, re-compressed by a messaging app or simply be a different recording. Ask the merchant for the original file.
Questions
- Do I need a PallasMark account to verify a video?
- No. The verification link is public, and the SHA-256 commands above run on any Mac, Linux or Windows computer without installing anything.
- Why doesn't my downloaded video match the fingerprint?
- Most often the file was re-compressed on the way to you, for example by a messaging app or an email client that shrinks attachments. Any re-compression changes the bytes. Ask the merchant for the original file.
