vAudit alternative: packing video proof without per-station pricing

On this page
Competitor details are taken from their public pages, checked October 2026.
If you are weighing vAudit against other packing video tools, the decision usually turns on two questions: where does packing physically happen, and what happens when someone disputes the recording? vAudit answers the first with a station. PallasMark answers both with a phone and a sealed record. This page lays out what vAudit does, what it costs at one, three and five stations, and where a complete evidence system goes further. For the wider field, see our packing video software comparison.
What vAudit is and what it does
vAudit is a pack-station video system from VisAI Labs in Fremont, California, according to its homepage. It records each order at the bench and files the clip under the order or return ID. vAudit names four products:
- Video Logger: "order-linked packing footage"
- Order Verification: a "barcode based quantity check" with alerts for wrong barcodes or extra items
- Returns Processing: return condition review at a returns bench
- Forge: storing and retrieving packing clips
On its pricing page, vAudit Basic "runs on the laptop and webcam you already have at the packing station", costs $50 per station per month and has "no cap on the number of recordings". Recording starts from a barcode scan, video is 1080p with 4K as an add-on, and storage is 30 days. Basic includes shareable proof links, search by order ID, a REST API, webhooks and a Chrome extension. vAudit Enterprise is custom-priced and adds vAudit-provided hardware, dedicated displays, configurable guided workflows and computer-vision workflow monitoring.
Its named integrations are Shopify, ShipStation, Cin7 and Unicommerce, per its integrations page. For disputes, its chargeback page describes watermarked links that expire, suggests attaching the video to a chargeback response as a link, and suggests pulling three or four images for processors that want image files. vAudit also markets buyer-facing post-purchase and branded order videos and describes itself as SOC 2 compliant.
That is a coherent design for one job: a fixed bench, a camera over it, every order recorded hands-free. The trade-offs come from the same design. Cost scales with the number of benches, the record lives as a clip in vAudit's portal, and the person on the other side of a dispute is asked to trust a link.
vAudit vs PallasMark, side by side
PallasMark covers everything vAudit Basic records and adds the steps that turn a recording into proof: a fingerprint anyone can check, the buyer's own approval, the buyer's own return footage and a dispute file a bank can read.

What vAudit costs per year, and what PallasMark costs instead
vAudit Basic costs $600 per packing station per year with 30-day storage and $900 per station per year with 90-day storage. Those figures come straight from the prices listed on vAudit's pricing page, checked October 2026: $50 per station per month, plus $15 per station per month for 60-day storage or $25 for 90-day storage.
| Setup | 30-day storage | 60-day storage | 90-day storage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 station | $600 / year | $780 / year | $900 / year |
| 3 stations | $1,800 / year | $2,340 / year | $2,700 / year |
| 5 stations | $3,000 / year | $3,900 / year | $4,500 / year |
Storage matters more than it looks. A dispute can arrive weeks after delivery, and a clip that expired at day 30 cannot answer a claim filed at day 45. If you want 90 days on vAudit, five stations cost $4,500 a year.
What the table leaves out:
- A computer and webcam at every station. Basic is bring-your-own. Any bench without a laptop or desktop and a suitable webcam needs one before it can record.
- Every new packing point is a new station. If you want a returns bench, an overflow table for peak season or a second building recorded, each one adds a station to the bill.
- 4K is an add-on with no price listed, and Enterprise, the tier with vAudit hardware and computer vision, is custom-priced.
PallasMark costs no hardware and no per-station fees. Every phone on the team records, so a second bench, a returns table or a receiving dock adds nothing to the bill. You can start on the free plan with no card, and the verification page, buyer approval and evidence PDF are included from the first order. Records are kept for 90 days by default on every plan, and any order with an open dispute, chargeback or return is never purged. Current plans are on the pricing page.
Where PallasMark goes further than vAudit
PallasMark goes further than vAudit in five places: proof a stranger can check, the buyer's approval before dispatch, the buyer's own return footage, a dispute file in the format banks accept, and warehouse records beyond the pack bench.
A file anyone can check, not a link they have to trust
Every file PallasMark stores gets a SHA-256 fingerprint. Change a single frame and the fingerprint changes. Each proof has a public verification page that re-hashes the stored file on the spot and shows whether it still matches, so a buyer, a bank, a carrier or a marketplace agent can check it without an account or a login. There is no edit button for recordings anywhere in the product. Photos are also stamped with your company name, the order number and the upload time inside the image file. How verification works explains exactly what the check proves, and tamper-proof video covers the feature itself.
The buyer approves before the parcel ships
For high-value or dispute-prone orders, you can hold the parcel and send the buyer the sealed recording first. They open a link with no app and no password, watch, and choose Approve or Report an issue. The record keeps how many seconds they watched, and you can require them to watch part of the video before the approve button unlocks. If a "missing item" claim arrives later, you have the buyer's own approval of that exact parcel, and how long they watched, on the record. See buyer approval.
The buyer films the return, not just your bench
vAudit's returns product records returns when they reach your bench. PallasMark also asks the buyer to film or photograph the item and its packaging through a link when the return is opened. Shopify and ShipHero returns trigger the request automatically, WooCommerce orders get a one-tap button, and any open return can be requested from the Returns page. You see what is coming back before it arrives. See return evidence.
A dispute file the bank will actually read
Card disputes run on documents. Shopify's chargeback instructions accept only PDF, JPEG or PNG and say not to include video files or links to external resources. Stripe's dispute evidence best practices also accept only PDF, JPEG or PNG and advise against links to content on other websites. A video link pasted into a response is exactly what those rules warn against.
PallasMark builds an evidence dossier for any order on request: a PDF with four stills from each recorded video (up to six videos), the order details, photos, fingerprints, the buyer's approval and return evidence, plus the carrier and tracking number read from your store. You download it and upload it to the payment provider, marketplace or carrier yourself. More on this in chargeback evidence and which disputes packing video can support.
Receiving, loading and 3PL clients are records, not stations
PallasMark records receiving, packing, loading and dispatch, each tied to a shipment, pallet or lot reference, a facility and, for 3PLs, a client brand. Standalone records work without a store connection. Each record carries a location check (inside the facility area, outside it, or not checked) and custom fields such as PO, seal number, SKU or lot. You can share one specific record with a client brand, a carrier or a supplier through a link with an expiry date, an optional PIN and download settings, revocable at any time, without exposing the rest of the warehouse. See warehouse proof and warehouse packing video proof for how that runs on a floor.
Switch from vAudit in an afternoon
Switching from vAudit to PallasMark takes an afternoon because there is nothing to mount, cable or install at the bench.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best vAudit alternative?
For teams that pack at more than one bench, or want proof that does more than store a clip, PallasMark is the strongest vAudit alternative. It records on the phones a team already has, seals every file with a SHA-256 fingerprint and gives buyers, banks and marketplaces a verification page that needs no account. It also adds buyer approval before dispatch, buyer-filmed return evidence and a dispute-ready evidence PDF.
How much does vAudit cost per year?
vAudit's pricing page, checked in October 2026, lists Basic at $50 per station per month with 30-day storage, plus $15 per station per month for 60-day storage or $25 for 90-day storage. That works out to $600 per station per year at 30 days and $900 per station per year at 90 days, so five stations cost $3,000 to $4,500 a year before any computers or webcams. Enterprise pricing is custom.
Do I need a camera or a computer at every packing station with PallasMark?
No. PallasMark records on iPhone and Android phones or in a browser, so there is no mounted camera, no fixed station and no PC to install. A packer scans the barcode on the picking slip or shipping label, the app opens that order, and the recording is tied to it before the first frame.
Can I keep using Shopify or ShipStation if I switch from vAudit?
Yes. PallasMark connects to Shopify through its App Store app, to ShipStation and ShipHero, to WooCommerce through a free WordPress.org plugin, and to Amazon Seller Central for the US and Canada. Past orders can be pulled in with one click, up to the latest 100, and new orders flow in automatically after you connect.
Can a bank or marketplace check a PallasMark recording without logging in?
Yes. Every proof has a public verification page that re-hashes the stored file on the spot and shows whether it still matches its SHA-256 fingerprint. A buyer, bank, carrier or marketplace agent can open it with no account, and there is no edit button for recordings anywhere in the product.
Does PallasMark use AI in the warehouse?
Yes, on the Scale plan. AI label reading turns a photo of a package label into an editable form with supplier, batch or lot, quantity, location, condition and your own custom fields, which the operator reviews before saving. When a barcode is scanned, the barcode always wins over the AI reading.
What happens to my vAudit videos when I switch?
They stay in vAudit for the storage period you pay for, which is 30 days on Basic unless you bought the 60- or 90-day add-on. Download any clip you still need for an open dispute before that window closes. In PallasMark, records are kept for 90 days by default on every plan, and orders with an open dispute, chargeback or return are never purged.
